Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dosimetry?

Dosimetry is the science of measuring and monitoring exposure to ionizing radiation. It helps ensure occupational safety by tracking dose received by individuals working with X‑ray equipment, radioactive materials, or in radiation environments.
Who needs a radiation monitoring badge?

Anyone working with or around X‑ray equipment or radioactive materials should wear a badge—this includes dental staff, veterinarians, researchers, and industrial radiography personnel.

OSL and TLD whole‑body badges, ring (extremity) badges, fetal badges for declared pregnancies, and Instadose® wireless dosimeters.

OSL/TLD programs are offered in monthly or quarterly wear periods. Instadose® supports on‑demand electronic reads via Bluetooth—no physical exchanges are required.
A control badge travels with your shipment and is not worn. It captures background during transit and storage and is priced at half the unit price. Instadose® does not require a physical control badge.
For OSL/TLD, reports are posted after badges are received and processed for the wear period. Instadose® readings appear in the online portal immediately after a read.
You can update the roster during ordering or contact us with the new wearer list (first name, last name, DOB, and sex). Badges will be issued according to the updated roster.
Standard (2–5 business days), Express (1–5), and Rush (1–2) shipping are available for OSL/TLD badge exchanges. Instadose® reduces shipping needs since reads are electronic.
